The Warrior Test and Athletic Test involves 4 easy steps:

   1. Order the Warrior or Athlete Test(s) and receive a DNA kit in the mail.
   2. Follow the provided instructions for swabbing your mouth for DNA.
   3. Send the kit back in the provided pre-paid mailing envelope.
   4. Receive your results in 6-8 weeks via email or printed copy.*

After purchasing your test(s), Warrior Roots will send you a DNA collection kit containing:

• DNA collector
• Transport Pouch
• Pre-paid mailing envelope(continental US)
• Warrior Roots Brochure and swabbing instructions

The first step in the Warrior Roots process is to collect your DNA. Although there are a number of alternative ways to do this, the easiest and safest way is to swab the inside of your cheek using DNA collection swab. The collection swab is specifically made for preserving DNA and preventing any microbial growth contamination during shipping and storage.

The swab will painlessly collect buccal cells (pronounced "buckle") from the lining of your mouth. These cells contain the DNA we need from you to run your test. The DNA collector is barcoded so you can ship your sample through the mail anonymously. For your safety, Warrior Roots is the only place where we can associate the barcode back to you.

 

Just follow the easy instructions for swabbing your mouth provided in your DNA collection kit. After swabbing, put the collector in the transport pouch and seal. Place the pouch in the pre-paid mailing envelope, seal and then drop it in your nearest mailbox. It’s that easy!

The DNA collector is barcoded so you can ship your sample through the mail anonymously. For your safety, Warrior Roots is the only place where we can
associate the barcode back to you.

 

Once we receive your kit, our scientists will take collector material and then add it to an extraction solution. The solution helps remove the DNA from the swab material. Upon completion, your DNA will be ready for testing.

After several important steps, scientists analyze your "unknown" genetic markers using fluorescently labeled probes designed specifically for our tests. For simplicity, let’s say that the dyes are each associated with one of the four DNA bases (A,T,C,G);

• A probe with a blue dye would associated with the A base
• A probe with a green dye would associated with the T base
• A probe with a red dye would associated with the C base
• A probe with a yellow dye would associated with the G base

Your labeled DNA is then placed in a machine that reads the fluorescent wavelength of the probe’s dye. If the machine reads the wavelength for the blue dye, we know that you have an A base for that genetic marker.

Once we obtain all the bases for your test, we can then prepare a report for your specific genetic make-up. The results above would indicate a Saxon warrior heritage. You can expect your Warrior Profile in approximately 6-8 weeks.*
